The city of Bismarck is asking people who live near the old Liberty Memorial Bridge to leave their homes Wednesday morning as a precaution while the last sections of the bridge are demolished.
Part of the old Missouri River bridge was dropped into the water Oct. 6. The rest of it is to be blown up Wednesday morning.
Letters were hand-delivered to about 35 homes this week, telling people who live within 1,000 feet of the bridge that it will be dangerous to stay in their home during the explosion.
City administrator Bill Wocken says officials don't expect problems. But he says Wednesday's explosion will be closer to homes than the explosion earlier this month and officials want to be cautious.
