McKENZIE (AP) - Burleigh County authorities have identified a 3-year-old boy who died of a gunshot wound to the head.
The sheriff's office said Harley David Zahn died Saturday at Bismarck's Medcenter One hospital.
Sheriff's Lt. Nick Sevart said the death is under investigation. He said Monday that authorities are awaiting autopsy results.
Sevart said authorities got a 911 hang-up call about 8:30 Saturday morning. He said that when they got to the boy's home on Main Street in McKenzie, east of Bismarck, they found evidence of a shooting but no one was home.
"They checked in the hospitals and found the boy had been brought in to Medcenter One," Sevart said. "The child died at the hospital."
