What is the sum of all the integers between -12.1 and 3.3?

If you guessed -72 you're correct. If you didn't guess -72, but still knew the answer you must have been at the 2005 MathCounts state competition.

From across the state, 160 sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders earned the right at school and county competitions to compete in the state MathCounts competition at the Ramkota Inn on Monday.

The top four ranking students in Monday's competition, along with the top ranking team coach will represent North Dakota at the national competition in Detroit, May 5-8.

This year's winners are Dylan Bernhardt, and Tyler Roberts, both eighth-graders from Wachter Middle School; Michael Steve, eighth-grader from Hope Christian Academy in Dickinson; and Sam Wehri, eighth-grader from Ben Franklin Junior High in Fargo.

The top team at the state competition was from Wachter Middle School. Team members are Gage Bickler, seventh grade, Kayla Maedche, eighth grade, and Bernhardt and Roberts.

Their coach, Jennifer Fegley. will be coaching the students at nationals. She also won the top individual coaching award.

Fargo's Ben Franklin Junior High finished second, and Hazen Middle School came in third.
