The Governor's Prevention Advisory Council on Drugs and Alcohol has awarded grants to five organizations to help decrease substance abuse among the youth of North Dakota.
The council was created during the 2007 legislative session.
Organizations receiving grant awards from the council are: Northern Lights Youth Services Inc., Hillsboro; West Dakota Parent and Family Resource Center, Dickinson; United Tribes Technical College, Bismarck; Casselton Youth Task Force, Casselton; Sunrise Youth Bureau, Dickinson.
The organizations will utilize educational prevention activities within schools and communities for the purpose of promoting healthy prevention methods among schoolchildren. The programs will target elementary and middle school-aged youth and their parents.
