A Burleigh County sheriff's deputy captain has been charged with driving under the influence.
Mandan City Attorney Stan Boehm said Lisa Wicks has been charged with driving under the influence.
Burleigh County Sheriff Steve Berg said Wicks, a deputy captain in the sheriff's department whose main assignment is running the Burleigh County Detention Center, has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation of the incident.
Berg said he will make a decision on any actions regarding Wicks after he receives reports about her arrest and charge.
"We're going to deal with it professionally and objectively," Berg said.
He said Wicks has been with the sheriff's department for 15 years.
"She's a fine officer who does a fine job for the sheriff's department and the jail," Berg said.
Mandan Police Chief Dennis Rohr said an officer pulled Wicks over for speeding around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
The officer performed a field sobriety test and arrested Wicks for driving under the influence on the basis of that test, Rohr said. He said she was given a breathalyzer test, but he did not know the results of that test.
Berg said he has appointed Lt. Greg Bohrer to serve as acting commanding officer at the Burleigh County Detention Center while Wicks is on administrative leave.
