MINOT - A mobile home standoff ended after about six hours when a man inside the home was found dead, authorities said.
The man's name was not immediately released.
Minot Police Chief Jeff Balentine said the city's tactical squad had used gas to subdue the man, and when officers entered the mobile home, they found him dead.
No officers were hurt, police Lt. Steve Whitesell said.
Authorities had surrounded the mobile home on Minot's southeast side and blocked off the neighborhood shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday. They said the man holed up inside after they tried to serve him with legal papers, and they heard what sounded like gunshots.
A school bus headed to the neighborhood was rerouted after the incident began.
"We'll just have to do a very thorough investigation, find out all the particulars on this," Balentine said. "We do have a deceased male on our hands who we believe was the man we were looking for."
