Medora - Winter hours at the new Chateau de Mores interpretive center will take effect Sept. 16. The center will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays until May 15. The chateau will remain open for visitation through Sept. 16.

Bowman - Contestants from around the country and the Badlands circuit will meet in Bowman Sept. 21 and 22 for Bowman's first-ever professional rodeo competition. Performances will start at 7 p.m. Sept. 20 and continue at 2 p.m. Sept. 21. The event will be a qualifier for the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. Raleigh - The 17th annual Prairie Learning Center open house and fair will start with bingo at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the center in Raleigh. The Walt Odegaard Memorial dedication will be held at 5 p.m., followed by dinner and a raffle drawing. Anyone who wants to donate items to sell at the fair can bring them anytime up to the start of the fair.

Watford City - The McKenzie County Healthcare Systems will hold its second annual bake craft and taco-in-a-bag sale from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Horizon living center in Watford City. The sale will feature Western arts and ethnic treats like sandbukkels and krumkaka. Also, Watford City will host the NDRA Championship Rodeo Friday and Saturday, with nightly performances at 7 p.m., at the McKenzie County fairgrounds in Watford City.

Garrison - The 19th annual Sakakawea Chapter Pheasants Forever banquet and auction will be held starting with a 6 p.m. social Sept. 20 at the Garrison City Auditorium. Tickets are $45 for a single and $60 for a couple and include a $30 national membership and the meal.

Hebron - Hebron's fall festival Friday through Sunday will honor the history and employees of the Hebron Brick Company. Events will begin with a community picnic supper Friday served by Hebron Close Up, continue with a 10 a.m. parade Saturday, a craft and quilt show and the fourth annual zucchini shoot at 4 p.m. at the recreation complex.

Standing Rock Sioux Reservation - Ron His Horse is Thunder, chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation, has outlawed swimming on the Missouri River within the reservation boundaries until further notice. The chairman said the tribe is concerned about the safety of reservation residents because of a swift current and dangerous undertow in the river. The body of a 13-year-old girl was recently pulled from the Missouri River near Fort Yates.
