BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The Agraria restaurant in Washington, D.C., is recovering from some rough financial times, and the North Dakota Farmers Union is planning a second restaurant.
Farmers Union President Robert Carlson says the second facility will be closer to downtown. He says he's limited in what he can say, because the plan still needs approval from the Securities Exchange Commission.
Agraria is an upscale restaurant located in Washington's Georgetown neighborhood. It showcases fresh beef, vegetables, and other crops sent directly from North Dakota and family farms across the country. It's the brainchild of the North Dakota Farmers Union and owned mainly by farmer investors.
Carlson says the restaurant was losing money last year, and a management change was made last fall. He says the new management team has made changes in the menu, prices and promotional efforts.
