A Bismarck man has been charged with terrorizing and simple assault-domestic violence for allegedly holding a knife to the neck of his girlfriend's 13-year-old son.

Emilio Louis Cruz, 55, was charged Thursday with the offenses. Cruz has been released upon posting bond.

Sgt. Dwight Offerman said the 13-year-old boy's father asked police to investigate after the boy told him Cruz had kicked him.

Offerman said the boy told officers Cruz had held a knife against his neck during a scuffle on Wednesday. The knife left a scrape, he said.

"There was a small mark there," Offerman said.

He said the report would be forwarded to Burleigh County Social Services.
