The weather for this holiday week is nothing that would stop a North Dakotan, a meteorologist says.
Barring a potential for light dusting of snow today and possibly Sunday, temperatures should be above normal, said Rich Leblang, meteorologist for the Bismarck office of the National Weather Service.
"At this point, it doesn't look like it will amount to much,"Leblang said, referring to the snow.
This time last year, Thanksgiving day had a similar light dusting of snow with temperatures in the high 20s. This year, they're projecting temperatures ranging from the 30s to low 40s, despite a cold front coming through tonight.
"We're going to have a much better Thanksgiving than the upper East Coast,"Leblang said; states in that region are being hit with precipitation and chilly temperatures through the holiday weekend.
The air in Bismarck-Mandan has been unseasonably warm in the past few days, averaging in the 30s and at about 2.1 degrees higher than last year for the month, even after the area was hit with a nasty snowstorm two weeks ago.
"For the month of November, we are running above normal,"Leblang said.
