Bismarck police took three reports of possibly counterfeit bills in two days.
Lt. Randy Ziegler said Kirkwood Bank and Trust reported a counterfeit $20 bill was found Thursday. The bill was part of deposits from 11 Kirkwood Mall stores, and bank officials think the money could have been passed at one of the stores on Wednesday.
Employees at Starbucks, 1229 W. Century Ave., reported Thursday they had received eight counterfeit $1 bills on Wednesday, Ziegler said. He said they learned of the bills when a woman brought one in that she had received as change. The employees believe the bills were passed through the drive through between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, PetSmart, 1211 W. Century Ave., reported taking in three counterfeit $5 bills and one counterfeit $1 bill, Sgt. Dwight Offerman said. He said the $5 bills had the same serial numbers.
Ziegler said the reports will be sent to the U.S. Secret Service, which handles counterfeiting.
