Bowman " Improvements are being proposed for the Bowman Municipal Airport in the areas of airport design, minimizing wildlife hazards, land acquisition and enhanced safety. A public hearing will be held on the proposals at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bowman City Hall.

Killdeer " The popular Ranch Rodeo will be held starting with a Calcutta at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Killdeer rodeo grounds. The deadline to enter is Sept. 1, with a $100 entry fee. For information, contact Tim Steffan at 573-5254, or Deb Harsche at 764-5777. Also, the Halliday Lions will hold a cream can party from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Halliday park. The cream can is filled with sausage, potatoes and other vegetables and cooked to perfection. Everyone is welcome.

Linton " Lenora Glasser, of Linton, is promoting public attendance at the Linton City Council meeting Sept. 6. Glasser wants citizens to get involved in the city's decision about how to fill a vacancy on the police force by working cooperatively with the Emmons County Sheriff's Department. The town's police chief, Pat Idyll, resigned in May.

Beach " The Prairie West Development Foundation plans to make a guide map of things to do and places to stay and eat in the Golden Valley and Billings counties area. Steele " Friday will be busy in Steele, with the Steele 125th anniversary committee hosting a picnic supper fundraiser from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Veteran's Memorial Park. At 7 p.m., the Steele Pirates will open their football season against the Garrison Troopers. The game will mark Steele's first in 11-man football.

Garrison " Garrison will hold its annual Beach Party from 4 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday at Fort Stevenson State Park, south of Garrison. The event will include games for kids and adults, body art, a climbing wall, food and entertainment by the Fantastic Convertibles starting at 7:30 p.m. Also, a retirement open house for Marlin Hvinden, who's served McLean County as auditor for 23 years, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at the McLean County Courthouse in Washburn.
