Four teenage girls from the Carson area face juvenile charges in connection with the death of their 15-year-old friend.
Jodi Pliiger fell from the hood of a moving car Sept. 5 and died after she was run over. The 15-year-old driver of the car and three passengers - ages 14, 15 and 17 - were charged sometime in the last couple of weeks, Juvenile Court Director Dave McGeary said. The names of the girls weren't released because they're juveniles.
The driver was charged with negligent homicide, and the 17-year-old passenger was charged with being an accomplice to negligent homicide, McGeary said. All four girls were charged with being minors consuming alcohol.
The 17-year-old also was charged with hindering law enforcement and the others were charged with giving false information to law enforcement. McGeary said the girls originally lied to law enforcement about who was driving the vehicle.
McGeary said the charges likely will be handled in juvenile court and there will be a series of hearings before final disposition.
