Medora - A public meeting on the 2006 Homeland Security grants from the state Department of Emergency Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Billings County Courthouse in Medora. The public is invited to attend.

Bowman - Bowman's second annual Tour of Gardens will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Participants can pick up maps at St. Charles Catholic Church at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 the day of the tour and $10 in advance at Bowman businesses. Tuttle - The second annual Gospel Festival will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Tuttle City Park. There is no admission, and food and drink will be available. Bring lawn chairs or blankets.

Dunn Center - Santa Claus will be at the Dunn County Historical Museum in Dunn Center from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Everyone is invited to attend and wear tropical attire to go with the Hawaiian theme party that's planned for Santa's summer vacation. The museum will be open for viewing as well.

Beach - Beach's Spirit of the West celebration and Golden Valley County Fair will include a performance by Fast Eddie and the Corvettes on Aug. 4 at the fairgrounds in Beach. The gates will open at 6 p.m. The Parrot Head Express will perform Aug. 5, same time, same place. Fair and celebration activities are scheduled Aug. 3 through Aug. 6, with the main parade at 11 a.m. Aug. 5.

New Leipzig - New Leipzig is planning its 36th annual Oktoberfest for Sept. 22 through Sept. 24. People are asked to make plans for a weekend that will include a musical, parade, beer garden and old-fashioned German-Russian food.

Steele - The Kidder County Primary Health Care Corporation will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Steele Community Center. The corporation has a 1 cent sales tax to help establish a full time primary health care clinic in Steele and is getting help from Coal Country Community Health Center in Beulah for rural health clinic status.

Napoleon - The Napoleon City Council has watering restrictions in place because of extremely dry conditions. Until further notice, residents east of Highway 3 are asked to avoid watering on Mondays and Wednesdays, while residents west of the highway should avoid watering on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Washburn - Volunteers are needed to help host nearly 500 bicycle riders that will be in Washburn Aug. 11 and 12 as part of the annual CANDISC, this year the 400-mile "Missouri River Ride." The riders will be encamped at the 4-H camp near Washburn and people are needed to do everything from serve meals to drive luggage trucks. Anyone who's willing to help can contact coordinator Joan Zimmerman at 462-8530.

McLaughlin, S.D. - The public is invited to an informational meeting from 5 to 6 p.m. Aug. 9 at the McLaughlin City Auditorium on the South Dakota Department of Transportation's plans to improve the highway running through the city of McLaughlin. The project will include resurfacing, curb and gutter, lighting and sidewalk. Also, an arraignment in the case of Dwight Crigger, of McIntosh, will be held today in McIntosh Circuit Court. Crigger is charged with arson for burning down the historic Corson County Courthouse and the county maintenance shed.
