Winds picked up in Bismarck on Monday, blowing around some early-morning flurries.

Despite the light dusting of snow across windshields and rooftops Monday, no cities in central or western North Dakota recorded any precipitation.

But, a meteorologist said, Monday night would probably be the coldest night of the season so far.

Area temperatures averaged slightly above normal last month, said Harlyn Wetzel, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Bismarck.

But Monday temperatures were below normal. Highs are typically at 45, Wetzel said, with lows averaging at 23. Monday, the high reached 33 by 4 p.m., with lows expected to hit the teens overnight.

Winds gusted to 45 mph, Wetzel said.

Warmer weather is on its way, Wetzel said.

He expects temperatures to warm up to around 50 on Wednesday and Thursday, then reaching the 60s on Friday. But temperatures could cool off again on Saturday and Sunday. Today's high should reach the low 40s.
