Adams County - The county's inert landfill will open at 1 p.m. Wednesday for the summer season. Hours will be Wednesdays from 1 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.

Emmons County - A series of public meetings to discuss forming an Emmons County Hospital District to help ensure continued health care in the county will be held through the week. The schedule is 7 tonight at the Hazelton school theater room, 7 p.m. Tuesday at KEM Electric hospitality room in Linton, 7 p.m. Thursday at the Blue Room in Strasburg and 7 p.m. Friday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hague.

GOLDEN VALLEY

Beach - The Golden Valley County Commission will hold a public hearing at 10 a.m. April 4 at the county courthouse in Beach on a preliminary resolution to appoint a county state's attorney rather than fill the position by election as of January 2007. There is no county resident attorney interested in running for the position, and the current state's attorney, Charles Peterson, lives in Dickinson, though he has a Beach office.

Carson - The old elevators at Carson are scheduled to be burned, and the public is invited to a meeting at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Carson Community Center to talk about the project. Dennis Graff will be guest speaker, and the meeting will address public questions and concerns.

Mott - Chuck Suchy, North Dakota's centennial troubadour, folk singer and songwriter, will perform at 2 p.m. April 9 at the Mott Playhouse Theater. The performance will benefit the Mott Gallery. New England - The New England Rural Fire Protection district will hold its annual meeting at 7:30 p.m. March 27 in the New England fire hall meeting room. Officers will be elected, and regular business will be conducted. Everyone is welcome.
