Glen Ullin celebrating 125th year

The community of Glen Ullin will be celebrating its 125th year Friday to Sunday.

Activities begin Friday with the all-school reunion. Registration, tours, class gatherings and pictures start at 9 a.m.; an alumni social, with entertainment, at the Glen Ullin Park, begins at 2 p.m.

Also, during the afternoon, there will be a variety of entertainment in the downtown area, which includes an open mic jam session, the Larson Brothers, Marge Emter and the Belles N' Beaux Square Dance Club. The reunion continues with the all-class banquet at 5:30 p.m. at the Glen Ullin Public School.

After the banquet, the celebration moves downtown to a street dance, with music provided by Gwen Sebastian and her group Breakaway, beginning at 8:30 p.m.

The first-day activities conclude with a Fourth of July fireworks display.

The schedule for Saturday begins with a 5K walk/run starting at 8:30 a.m., followed by a kiddie parade at 9:30 a.m. and the 125th anniversary parade at 10:30 a.m.

Other activities during the day include:

n Craft show, art show, petting zoo, inflatable park, game show, Michael Waltrip NASCAR, and car show. There will be a variety of entertainment occurring throughout the day in the downtown area, including the Emter Family Accordions, Norwegian folk dancers and Kristi Goldade yodeling.

n Also on Saturday, the KC barbecue will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with buffalo burgers, and the Glen Ullin Motorcycle Club will be serving a barbecue pork meal from 4 to 7 p.m. at their clubhouse. There will be a variety of food vendors set up in the downtown area during the three-day celebration.

n The evening entertainment, David Malmberg-comic-ventriloquist, begins at 7 p.m. at the high school. A street dance, with music provided by October Road, will begin at 8:30 p.m. and concludes the day's activities.

n The Sacred Heart welcoming committee will be serving breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. Other Sunday activities include an all-faith church service at 10:30 a.m. in the tent downtown, a Crossroads Golf Scramble at 1 p.m. and the Capital City Cloggers performing at 12:30 in the downtown area.

n The Glen Ullin Museum will be open throughout the celebration, 1 to 4 p.m., and will be serving fry bread, bars, coffee and lemonade on Sunday.
