Saturday morning's "Weekend Today Show" and the evening NBC Nightly News will both feature Mott the Spot.
NBC correspondent Ron Mott traveled to Mott for its second annual Tractor Fest on Sunday, and "Weekend Today" will show a segment about the festival sometime between 6 and 8 a.m. MDT.
A piece on Mott-area farming and rural America will air on the evening news at 4:30 p.m. MDT.
Ron Mott, the correspondent, was invited to the festival by Mott boosters because of his obvious last-name connection to the community.
Mott Mayor Troy Mosbrucker said the newsman, who's based in Atlanta, arrived in town at about 7 a.m. the day of the festival and was still signing autographs and posing for photographs and obviously not ready to have all the fun end when he left at 2 p.m.
"He was a little amazed by the welcome he got," Mosbrucker said. The mayor said he personally took Mott through the parade in an antique vehicle. "When we turned the corner, he said, 'Where did all these people come from?'"
Mosbrucker said Mott was presented with a large number of Mott-emblazoned items, like caps and such, and told the mayor he'd like to return with his extended Mott family.
Other highlights included Mott's first ever chance to ride on and drive a tractor, Mosbrucker said.
This will mark the third occasion in a month's time that national NBC coverage originates from southwestern North Dakota.
A piece on Regent's Enchanted Highway was aired on NBC a week ago and the video, along with the Tractor Fest segment, can be viewed on the network's Web site. A rural Richardton farmer was featured on the "Today Show's" "America the Beautiful" series in early August.
