Someone stole more than $1,600 in property from the Mighty Thomas Carnival.

Employees at the carnival company, which puts on the Missouri River Festival, reported at 10:26 a.m. Thursday that someone had stolen $1,500 worth of stuffed animals, cotton candy tubs worth $30, six candy apples worth $30, a bag of cotton candy and pixy sticks worth $25, and ping-pong balls and glass bowls worth $50, Bismarck Police Lt. Randy Ziegler said.

He said the carnival owner reported employees previously had chased out two young girls who had been playing in a booth. The two girls are suspected of going under a tent, tearing the stuffed animals off a display and stealing the items, Ziegler said.

He said employees described the girls as both having brown hair. One was believed to be between 5 and 10 years old, and the other between 10 and 15 years old.

Officers plan to view security footage of the area, Ziegler said.
