High winds blew through the weekend, toppling garbage cans through city streets and adding a chill to the 77-degree temperatures on Saturday.
The highest gusts hit 46 miles an hour on Saturday, said meteorologist Patrick Ayd, which is short of the 58-mile-an-hour gusts needed to issue a high-wind warning. Minnesota wasn't so lucky; winds reaching 60 miles an hour tore through Duluth and even St. Paul on Saturday.
The last time North Dakota had a high-wind warning was in St. Anthony on May 1, when gusts hit 68 miles an hour.
Sunday's winds were relatively mild in comparison.
Ayd said conditions could be right for high gusts again this afternoon, with temperatures possibly hitting 76 degrees.
It should cool down for the rest of the week, wind-wise and temperature-wise, with a couple of odd chances at scattered showers. Wednesday's temperatures could drop to around 64 degrees, but the temperatures will be back in the 70s again for the weekend, Ayd said. Pretty average for this time of year.
Not much by way of precipitation, though.
"The pattern within the atmosphere is showing some potential for some precipitation," Ayd said. "It will not be a drought-ender, but definitely some chances for a tenth of an inch here or there."
