The Burleigh County Sheriff's Department dealt with several fire calls and burn ban violations over the weekend.

A burn ban was put into effect on Friday in Burleigh County because of dry conditions. Other area counties, including Morton, also have burn bans in place.

Lt. Nick Sevart said one person could face a burn ban violation charge, which is an infraction, for shooting off fireworks.

A fire at Apple Creek Wildlife Management Area was called in at 3:01 p.m. on Saturday, Sevart said. He said a 20-year-old man said he had been shooting off fireworks, which started the fire. About 15 or 20 acres burned in the fire. Bismarck Rural Fire Department extinguished the blaze, he said.

Another fire had been called in at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Someone living near Hoge Island boat ramp was burning weeds but extinguished the fire when informed about the burn ban, Sevart said.

Deputies informed a group of teenagers Friday at 10:10 p.m. at a bonfire near Burnt Creek boat landing of the burn ban, and they also put their fire out, Sevart said.

He said Wilton Volunteer Fire Department extinguished a tractor fire in Baldwin at 9:21 a.m. Saturday. No structures were burned in the fire.
