Board to consider historic sites

The North Dakota State Historic Preservation Review Board will meet at 10 a.m. Oct. 24 at the North Dakota Heritage Center in Bismarck. The meeting is open to the public.

Board members will consider two historic districts and a trail for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. The properties that will be considered are:

Fort Abercrombie in Richland County was the first military fort in North Dakota.

The Grand Forks County Fairgrounds WPA Structures demonstrates the importance fairs held for the community as social, educational, recreational, and entertainment venues.

The Custer Military Trail Historic Archaeological District in the south central Badlands of western North Dakota on the Little Missouri National Grasslands encompasses part of a military transportation corridor and five historic sites.

The review board reviews nominations to the National Register and makes recommendations to North Dakota's state historic preservation officer, Merl Paaverud.
