A Bismarck man has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly attempting to strangle his cousin.
Clifford Warren, also known as Clifford Parisien, was charged with the Class C felony Thursday. South Central District Judge Bruce Haskell set bond for him at $2,500.
Bismarck Police Lt. Randy Ziegler said officers were called to a southwest Bismarck home for a report of a fight.
A 25-year-old Bismarck woman said she had invited Warren, her cousin, to stay with her when his girlfriend kicked him out, Ziegler said.
He said the woman reported Warren, 38, became belligerent with her boyfriend when he arrived.
Warren and his cousin began to fight, and she reported he attempted to strangle her and she had trouble breathing, Ziegler said.
He said she punched Warren in the nose, causing his nose to bleed.
Ziegler said Warren was treated for the bloody nose at a Bismarck hospital before being taken to jail.
