Police officers from Mandan and Bismarck surrounded the 500 block of 6th Avenue N.W., Mandan ( click here for map), Saturday night after a hand gun was fired during an apparent domestic abuse incident, officials said.
A little after 6 p.m. police were called to the scene.
The unidentified man in the house has not been answering the phone, said Mandan Deputy Police Chief Dennis Bullinger, at 10 p.m., when officers blocked off Sixth Avenue N.W.
The man was believed to be alone in the home.
A woman involved in the incident had been injuried, though not badly, and was no longer in the home, Bullinger said.
There were a half-dozen police cars and several larger law enforcement vehicles, as well as a fire truck and ambulance, parked in the neighborhood.
Bullinger said that if the man did not answer the phone, officers would eventually have to go into the house.
