A taste of the Saint Mary's Carnival is available to go.
Each of the meals during the three-day event can be purchased to take home. The carnival is Friday, Saturday and Sunday. An evening meal is served from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and a brunch is served 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
Short-term parking for take away meals is available by the east entrance to the gym. Meals are $6.50 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12 for Friday and Saturday and $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12 Sunday.
The St. Mary's Central High School Carnival has meals, a midway, a bakesale, white elephant sale, plant sale, craft sale and bingo among its offerings. Events start at 4:30 p.m. Friday and last until 10 p.m. Saturday there is a kids matinee on the midway at 1 p.m., and events continue until 10 p.m. Sunday starts with the brunch at 9 a.m., and the midway is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Bingo is played all three days. It is played 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
A live and silent auction also are part of the events. The live auction is Saturday night at 8, and the silent auction goes for the duration of hte carnival. There also is a raffle for several prizes, including a car.
"It is a lot of fun," event organizer Karen Williams said. "It is such a community thing. You see people you would not see otherwise."
She has time to talk to people at the carnival whom she only gets a chance to see at church, she said.
It is the 56th year for the carnival. Parking at the school and the surrounding neighborhood can be crowded. For people who want to attend the carnival and other events at the school, there is shuttle service to the school from the west parking lot of the Capitol.
Raffle tickets are available at the school office for $2.
