Nearly $800 in cash and more than $3,000 in checks were stolen from Tires Plus, police say.

The tire store, 930 E. Bismarck Expressway, reported a missing bank deposit on Friday.

According to reports, an employee responsible for closing duties secured a day's deposit - $759.44 cash, $3,270 in checks - in a safe in the store. The safe was locked until the next day, when an employee opened it to retrieve cash to open the till; reportedly, the safe remained unlocked throughout the day, until an employee realized the deposit was missing.

The incident occurred between 8 p.m. June 17 and 8 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
