An eyewitness reported seeing someone flying through the air after being struck by a car in northeast Bismarck on Tuesday evening, according to a Burleigh County Sheriff's report.
The 17-year-old Bismarck teen was talking on her cell phone and crossing the street when hit. She is apparently going to be OK.
The girl, who didn't appear to have serious injuries at the scene, was taken to a local hospital, said a spokesman of the Bismarck Rural Fire Department.
Burleigh Sheriff's Cpl. Tracy Nelson said the teen was walking home from her job at the McDonald's restaurant at 4000 E. Divide Ave. when she was struck by a car Tuesday at about 6:30 p.m. while trying to cross 52nd Street Northeast at 17th Avenue Northeast.
Nelson said that intersection was dark, no lights, and the victim was wearing dark clothing. The 20-year-old Bismarck driver who struck the teen with the front bumper of a 2003 Honda Civic told deputies she didn't see the teen until the last moment.
The driver said she was going the speed limit, 45 mph, but then braked and swerved and still hit the girl in the left side.
Nelson estimated the car was traveling at a speed of about 25 mph when the accident occurred.
"The driver wasn't cited,"Nelson said.
