A Bismarck firefighter suffered minor burns Friday night when he went into a burning mobile home to make sure there was no one inside.
The fireman was part of a Bismarck Fire Department crew who went into a 2500 Centennial Road mobile home at about 11 p.m., Capt. Jesse Smith said. No one was inside and the firemen were driven out by intense heat and flames.
"The back of the trailer was heavily involved with fire," Smith said.
The name of the injured fireman wasn't immediately released. He was taken to a Bismarck hospital, where he was treated and sent home, Smith said.
Although the fire department put out the fire in 15 to 20 minutes, the single-wide was a total loss, Smith said. The name of the mobile home owner wasn't released, and hasn't been contacted by the fire department.
"They might be out of town," Smith said. "We don't know."
The cause and the origin of the fire is under investigation. Smith said winter investigations are tough because they have to chip through ice.
