A member of the West Dakota SWAT shot a Hebron man accused of threatening a Hebron city employee and a Morton County sheriff's deputy.

Morton County officials provided this account today.

The Morton County Sheriff's Department received the first call in the incident at 2:54 p.m. Tuesday. A Hebron man reportedly threatened the Hebron city auditor about his water bill and the possibility of having his water shut off.

A Morton deputy went to the man's home where the deputy was threatened with a weapon.

The deputy and at least one other deputy retreated behind vehicles and established a perimeter.

The SWAT was called at 5 p.m. They tried to make contact with the man. At about 1:55 a.m. today when they approached the home, he appeared with a long barrel weapon.

A SWAT member shot the man in the upper torso.

He's listed in good condition at a Bismarck hospital and is expected to be released.

George Fischer, 52, has been charged with an assault on a peace officer and terrorizing, both Class C felonies.
