Linton - The Linton Chamber of Commerce and Linton Hospital Foundation are sponsoring a New Year's Eve gala, starting at 8:30 p.m. at the Linton Knights of Columbus Hall. The event includes food stations all evening, dancing to Joe Friday and midnight champagne toasting. Tickets are $50 and benefit the organizations. Carson - Santa Claus Day and Carson Business Club's appreciation lunch will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Grant County Fair building in Carson. The family event is open to everyone and is sponsored by the Carson Women's Club and Carson Business Club. Also, the community's Christmas lighting judging for residences and businesses will be held Dec. 15.

Mott - The Hettinger County extension office will hold a Christmas open house from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday at the extension office in the Hettinger County Courthouse in Mott. There'll be educational displays, free holiday recipes, samples, drawings, and coffee and cookies.

Wishek - The Wishek Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 5 p.m. Dec. 15 on an application by Wishek Manufacturing to rezone three lots in the Wishek Third Addition from residential to industrial to accommodate the company's business plans. The application is available for review at the Wishek City Hall.

Washburn - An open house commemorating 40 years of service to McLean County on the part of county extension agent Pat Carpentier will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the extension office in the McLean County Courthouse in Washburn. Also, the trademark free community meal during Washburn's annual Santa Claus Day will be served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Washburn Memorial Building.

Stanley - A Holiday Art Extravaganza will be held starting at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sibyl Center in Stanley. The event includes a display of art works by various artists, children's art activities from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and ends with an adults-only social from 6 to 9 p.m. with wine samples, cash bar and music by Renaissance Brass. There is a suggested donation of $5 to attend the social.

Center - Center will be all about Christmas music in the coming week. It begins with the elementary school performance at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the school gym, continues with the annual Christmas Cantata at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the school gym and concludes with the high school Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 15, also at the gym. The theme for the community Cantata is "An Evening in December," and will feature 50 singers from Hannover, New Salem, Center and Stanton. All performances are free.

Fort Yates - The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's legal department posted for public comment a revised ordinance regarding the tribal enrollment code. Public comment ends Dec. 19. Anyone who wants to view the code can get a copy at all tribal district offices and at the legal department in Fort Yates. For information, call 854-8529.
