Bowman - The Bowman County centennial celebration continues today through Wednesday. There's an open house at the Bowman County High School from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today, followed by a Glenn Miller concert at 7 p.m. at the new multipurpose building. Tuesday, the new football field will be dedicated at 11:30 a.m., and a "Decades Show" will be held at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the 4 Seasons Building. A centennial parade will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, followed by a noon meal and band and chorale concert at the fairgrounds. The centennial will close with fireworks at dusk at Bowman-Haley Dam.

Dunn Center - The Dunn Center Public Library will hold a freewill, muffins, juice and coffee breakfast and book sale from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Dunn Center City Hall.

Linton - The Linton Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Dairyland Donkey Baseball Show at 5:30 p.m. July 15 at Seeman Park near Linton. Volunteer donkey riders are needed for the show. Mott - The second annual Independence Day potluck picnic will be held at noon Wednesday at the Mott Legion Park. A gas grill will be available for burgers and hot dogs, and everyone is invited for fun and friendship. The Mott Gallery of Art and History is hosting the event and reminds people that the gallery is open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays and Thursdays. Also, the Hettinger County Fair will be held at the fairgrounds at Mott from July 12 through July 15, with 4-H exhibits, a parade at 9 a.m. and polka dance at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Saturday and motocross races at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Max - A special meeting related to the standing water problems in the city of Max will be held at 7:30 tonight at the city offices in Max. The McLean County Commission and Max City Council members will discuss options for relieving the water, working with the state and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Hazen - Hazen will hold its first Blazin' Hazen Daze Thursday through Sunday, with some main events including a concert starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the All Seasons Arena with The Ravens, followed by country rock band 32 Below. On Saturday, the Hazen Lions will serve a chipped buffalo supper at 4 p.m. at the elementary school, followed by a battle of the bands at Jimmy's Lounge parking lot starting at 6 p.m. Also, the annual Beulah Lions Demolition Derby will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Beulah rodeo grounds. Top prize for the winning car is $1,000.

Hebron - Hebron area folks are invited to "break the bank" in a fundraising effort to repair the community swimming pool. The Dakota Commun8ity Bank said it will match $20,000 toward pool funds, if that much can be donated by Sunday, the end of the community's annual Watermelon Days party. The party includes a barbecue from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the city park and watermelon for everyone at 1 p.m. Saturday on main street.

Mountrail County - The Mountrail County road department will start cutting road shoulders on the county roads starting today. Anyone who wants the grass left for hay needs to call road supervisor Curt Johnson at 628-4444.

Center - A petition to close a portion of Prairie Avenue in Center will be heard at 7 p.m. July 9 at the Center Civic Center. The city has found that Square Butte Creek has made the street a safety hazard and that there are reasonable alternative routes of travel.
