Fairfield - Western Wireless plans to build a 400-foot communication tower on Highway 85, two miles south of Fairfield. The company has filed a public notice under the National Historic Preservation Act, and anyone who wants to comment or knows of a historic property that would be affected by the project can e-mail history@ramaker.com, by July 1.

Bowman County - The Bowman County Commission will hold public meetings to talk about a proposed addition to the courthouse in Bowman. The meetings will be held at 7 tonight at the Bowman 4 Seasons Pavilion; at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Scranton Community Center; and at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Rhame American Legion Hall. Also, Rhame will host Gala Day Saturday, with a craft and flea market on Main Street, a 10 a.m. parade, a 2 p.m. variety show at the American Legion Hall, a quilt show, burger stand on main street and a street dance starting at 8 p.m.

Dunn Center - The Dunn Center Public Library will hold a bake and book sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Dunn Center City Hall. Proceeds will be used to repair the library bathroom and make it handicap accessible.

Strasburg - The Beaver Valley Horse Club will hold its annual rodeo at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the rodeo grounds. The event will include a street dance starting at 10 p.m. Saturday in Strasburg. Concessions will be available at the rodeo grounds.

New England - If all goes as planned, the new pool at New England is scheduled to finally open for the season at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The date is still tentative. Anyone who wants to use the pool that day should first call 579-7665 to make sure it's open.
