Linton - The Linton Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual seasonal Light Up the Night event from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday in downtown Linton. The event includes horse and buggy rides, business open houses, lighting and decorating contest, and a special lighted parade.

New Leipzig - The American Legion and Auxiliary post 211 will hold its annual turkey night from 5 to 7 tonight at the Community Center in New Leipzig. The group will serve roast beef, ham, salads and pie.

Elgin - A community Thanksgiving dinner will be served at noon Thursday at the Elgin Community Center. Anyone willing to help can call 584-3831, or 584-2046. A free will offering will be taken for the dinner.

New England - The second annual New England potluck Christmas party will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Memorial Hall in New England. Holiday art by school students will be displayed for judging and a contest for best cookie and best candy also will be held. All entries will be sold at auction. Wishek - The Wishek City Council will meet at 8 p.m. Dec. 3 at Wishek City Hall to hear a public appeal of a zoning commission decision that rejected a request from Adrian and Maryann Dewald to allow them to have a milk distributorship business in their residentially zoned location. The Dewalds want the city to approve the business as a conditional use.

Watford City - The Watford Area Dollars for Scholars will hold its biannual banquet and auction starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Uncommons area at the school. The event begins with a silent auction, followed by dinner and a live auction. Tickets are $20 per family and $6 for individuals. The night typically generates about $10,000 for local scholarships.
