Residents between McClusky and Goodrich reported funnel clouds Saturday afternoon.
The funnel clouds were caused by instability in the atmosphere, Bismarck National Weather Service meteorologist Bill Abeling said. In the area, there were weak thunderstorms that produced a shallow updraft, he said.
"It is fairly weak circulation," he said.
No lightning, hail or strong winds accompanied the storms, just showers and funnel clouds.
Temperatures across the state reached the mid 70s Saturday. This is cooler than normal temperatures, Abeling said. A chance of thunderstorms is possible through midweek, which has the greatest chance of thunderstorms, he said.
"There's a slight chance of thunderstorms every day, not a high chance but about a 20 to 30 percent chance," he said.
