Bismarck police investigated several serious assaults over the weekend, and three of the investigations resulted in arrests.

Sgt. Mark Buschena said officers were called to the 600 block of South 16th Street at 4:34 a.m. Sunday by a 48-year-old Bismarck woman who said a 34-year-old Bismarck man, armed with a handgun, had threatened to kill her and had assaulted her. She said she had locked herself in a basement bathroom, he said.

Buschena said the man was arrested as he walked out of the house. Jamie Truedson was charged Monday with terrorizing, a Class Cfelony, and simple assault, a Class B misdemeanor. South Central District Judge Robert Wefald set bond for Truedson at $500 cash or surety.

Burleigh County Assistant State's Attorney Pamela Nesvig, who handles most of the county's domestic assault cases, said Truedson and the woman were involved in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship.

Buschena said police were called to the parking lot of Gateway Mall, 2100 State St., at 7:18 p.m. Sunday for a fight. Officers saw a vehicle leaving the area of the fight and pursued it, he said. A person in the vehicle started pushing an aluminum bat out of the window, and an officer grabbed it, he said.

After further investigation, officers learned that a 30-year-old Bismarck man had been hit in the face with an aluminum bat, Buschena said. He said the man had a cut on his nose.

Officers arrested Jomie Archer, 37. Archer was charged Monday with aggravated assault, a Class Cfelony, in district court and with simple assault, a Class B misdemeanor, in city court. The aggravated assault charge carries a two-year mandatory minimum sentence because the allegations include the use of a weapon, the bat.

Archer pleaded guilty to the simple assault charge Monday morning, and Municipal Court Judge William Severin sentenced him to 10 days in jail with seven suspended, one year of unsupervised probation and a $250 fine. Archer questioned in court whether he was being charged twice for the same offense.

Burleigh County Assistant State's Attorney Julie Lawyer said she did not have any information about the reasons for the city court charge, so Wefald ordered that Archer will be seen again at 3:30 p.m. today to sort out the reason for the multiple charges.

Buschena said the case is still under investigation, and more arrests could be made.

Buschena said police were called to the Ramkota Hotel, 800 S. Third Street, at 1:30 a.m. Saturday for a report of a man down. Officers found a 22-year-old Bismarck man unconscious and bleeding from the mouth, he said.

Police witnesses said the man had been punched in the mouth by Joshua James Kraft, Buschena said. He said Kraft, 25, was not on scene when police arrived, but they later located and arrested him.

Kraft was charged Monday with aggravated assault, a Class Cfelony. Wefald set bond for Kraft at $2,500 cash or surety.

He said officers were called to the Bismarck Motor Hotel, 2301 E. Main Ave., at 4 p.m. Sunday. A25-year-old woman reported that her ex-husband, a 37-year-old Mandan man, had forced his way into her hotel room, held her down and slashed her neck with a knife, Buschena said. He said the woman was taken to Medcenter One for superficial cuts to her neck.

The suspect in that case has not been located, Buschena said. Because the man has not been arrested or charged, police could not release his name.

Nesvig said she had not received information about the case and knew of no charges being filed in such a case Monday afternoon.
