Bismarck police are investigating an armed robbery in which the suspect demanded money, a milkshake and a meatball sandwich.
Sgt. Dwight Offerman said the robbery occurred at Subway, 301 S. Third St., at 9:48 p.m. Thursday.
Employees reported that an American Indian male in his late teens or early 20s entered the restaurant brandishing a "long"firearm, such as a rifle or a shotgun, Offerman said. He said the suspect demanded money from the cash register, along with a milkshake and a meatball sandwich.
He said the robber was given an undisclosed amount of money. Offerman was not sure if the robber was given the meatball sandwich. Subway does not serve milkshakes.
The suspect fled on foot eastbound from the restaurant, Offerman said. No one was injured in the incident, and it remains under investigation.
Offerman was not sure if the restaurant had surveillance cameras.
The suspect is described as approximately 6 feet, 1 inch tall and 160 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a royal blue hooded sweatshirt and dark-colored shorts that went just below his knees. He also was wearing a dark-colored bandanna over his face.
Offerman said anyone who may have seen the robber or who has information about the incident should contact the Bismarck Police Department at 223-1212 or Bismarck Area Crime Stoppers at 224-TIPS (224-8477).
