3:35 p.m. - FARGO (AP) -- A South Dakota man found on a Richland County road was revived after apparently spending the night outside with the wind chill factor below zero, authorities said.

Jon David Engen, 37, of Watertown, was not breathing when he was found by a passer-by about 6:30 a.m., Monday, the Highway Patrol said. He was revived on the way to Fargo's Innovis Hospital, where he was listed in guarded condition later in the day.

Trooper Keith Huwe said Engen apparently was trying to walk for help after his pickup went off a county road near Walcott and ended up in a water-filled ditch about 11 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities said Engen got wet as he waded through deep water, and he was found several hundred yards away.

Temperatures dropped into the low teens overnight, and the wind chill factor was around 15 below zero. Huwe said paramedics tried to warm Engen's body.

"They did get somewhat of a heartbeat when they left the scene and brought him to Innovis," Huwe said. "We hope he does come out of this."
