Aman accused of striking with a vehicle a woman walking through a parking lot wants to go to trial on related charges.
Eugene SmithJr. maintained not guilty pleas to Class C felony leaving the scene of an injury accident, Class Amisdemeanor aggravated reckless driving and Class Amisdemeanor unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Smith is accused of driving a vehicle that hit 22-year-old Crystal Alyea of Mandan on April 19. Alyea was walking through the Colonial Lounge parking lot at 4631 Memorial Highway to pick up a friend shortly after the bar closed early that Saturday morning when she was hit by a pickup.
Alyea needed three to four hours of surgery to reattach her ears and sew her jaw back together. She also had fractured ribs, bleeding kidneys and loss of skin from her upper right shoulder to her mid-thigh from the wreck.
Smith was identified by two people as having been the driver of the pickup, police say.
South Central District Judge Gail Hagerty said the matter will be set for trial.
If convicted, Smith could face up to five years in prison for the Class Cfelony and one year in prison for the Class A misdemeanors.
