Outsider Pictures, a movie distribution company, has asked the Bijou Show House in Beach to host the exclusive North Dakota Academy Awards qualifying presentation of Raymond de Fellitta's documentary film "'Tis Autumn: The Search for Jackie Paris," about top-rated Billboard singer, Jackie Paris.

The documentary will be shown at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday at the theater.

The dates and times are required by the Academy of Film Arts and Sciences for consideration for the 2008 Oscar awards.

Bijou Show House owner Emanuel Culman said he's excited to participate in bringing a movie to the Oscars' consideration and also because it's about a jazz singer who started with his favorite music period, bebop.

Singer and guitarist Paris played with such greats as Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, and Donald Byrd. He opened for notorious comedian Lenny Bruce. Many of his recordings are regarded as standards. In the movie, Paris speaks about his meteoric rise and equally rapid career decline. Other personalities in the movie include Peter Bogdanovich, Harlan Ellison and Billy Vera.

Unrated, "'Tis Autumn: The Search for Jackie Paris" plays on either side of "The Jane Austen Book Club," rated PG-13.

Each movie will be a separate showing with special $4 price for "'Tis Autumn."

To support out-of-town moviegoers, La Playa restaurant will open all three days with dinner-and-a-movie specials.

The Bijou Show House returns to regular hours following this special Oscars event.
