Part of Main Avenue to be closed

Beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Main Avenue will be closed from west of Eastdale Drive to east of 26th Street.

Access will be maintained for local traffic in this area.

Dakota, Missouri Valley and Western will be installing a rail crossing across Main Avenue.

The closure is expected to last two weeks.

A detour will be in place. Westbound traffic from Expressway on Main Avenue will be detoured south on Expressway to 26th Street and north back to Main Avenue. Eastbound traffic on Main Avenue will be detoured south on 26th Street to Expressway and then northeast back to Main Avenue.

Access to Cashman Nursery and Rough Rider Industries will be maintained from Bismarck Expressway.

S.D. homeless count is planned

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A count of the state's homeless is planned Sept. 20 by the South Dakota Housing for the Homeless Consortium.

A similar count in August 2006 found 772 people living on the streets or in shelters.
