A man accused of recklessly causing the death of his roommate in November has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Roger Richner, 40, was found dead on Nov. 3. Edgar Kihn was charged with manslaughter on Nov. 6.

Kihn, 52, pleaded guilty on May 22 to manslaughter at a pretrial conference, according to court documents.

South Central District Judge Tom Schneider sentenced Kihn to 10 years in prison with three years suspended and five years of supervised probation after the guilty plea was entered.

Kihn and Richner lived together at 2103 E. Rosser Ave. along with another man.

Richner's roommates called 911 on Nov. 3, and officers said Richner was not breathing and appeared to have been dead for some time when they arrived on scene.

Police said Richner's death was the result of physical trauma and that alcohol may have been involved in the incident.

Kihn was held at the Burleigh County Detention Center on a $250,000 cash bond since his arrest. He will get credit for 198 days served.
