The Bismarck-Mandan Animal Impound is planning an open house on Sunday for the public to view its new facility and to adopt some of the cats and dogs at the impound.

Open house hours are 1 to 4 p.m. at the impound facility at 2011 N. 52nd St., Bismarck, east of the Oasis truck stop and south of the city landfill. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited to tour the building and see the animals that are available for adoption. A great many animals are at the impound that would make pets, according to impound volunteer Suzie Baisch.

Adoption is free and donations are accepted.

The impound is in need of donations, including money, food, treats, etc., and also is in need of volunteers. Those interested may contact the Bismarck Police Department at 223-1212.

People can view the animals at http://bismarck.org/city_departments/department/divisions.asp?dID=15&divID=79, or by going to www.bismarck.org, clicking on City Departments, clicking on Police Department and then animal impound.
