Duane Wanner of Dickinson will not only get a special day named for him at St. Luke's Home in Dickinson, but he also will be granted a wish.
Before Wanner became a resident at St. Luke's Home in Dickinson, he was a trucker, said Joyce Decker, an employee at St. Luke's Home. And today, he will fulfill his dream of once again riding in a semi.
Wanner was nominated by St. Luke's Home, and he was the first person to be picked to have his wish granted by Cherished Hope, which is a wish granting program done through North Dakota Long Term Care Association.
"Ever since he found out about his wish, he's been smiling every day," said Decker.
Wanner will be riding in a semi provided by Fisher Industries of Dickinson.
He will be driven to Fisher industries, then to St. Luke's Home where friends and family will be greeting him, and finally he will be driven up the Enchanted Highway through his home town of New England, said Decker.
