The Bismarck Park Board will hold a special meeting Tuesday night to discuss plans for an indoor aquatic center and to reconsider allowing a sculpture project to proceed.

The meeting, set for 5:15 p.m., will be held at the Park District Administrative Office, 400 E. Front Ave.

The board will discuss development and operating agreements with the Streamline Foundation and a joint powers agreement with the state Board of Higher Education.

The Streamline Foundation is a nonprofit corporation that wants to build an indoor pool on the Bismarck State College campus and lease it to the park district. The Board of Higher Education would provide the land for the project. The aquatic center is estimated to cost more than $8 million.

Also on the agenda is the reconsideration of the United Tribes Technical College art and art marketing department 2008 sculpture project.

Commissioners may decide to allow UTTC students to begin work on a fifth eagle sculpture. The board tabled the issue last week, pending the development of a public arts policy.
