Applications are now being taken for Tribune Awards nominees. The awards will be announced Jan. 1, 2009.

The awards go to individuals or groups who have made selfless efforts on behalf of others. Past winners have been people who have physically saved another from serious injury or death, people who have done some remarkable work of charity or have led a life of service.

To nominate someone, send their name and a paragraph describing why they should be honored, along with your name and phone number, to Tribune Awards, P.O. Box 5516, Bismarck, N.D. 58502 or ken.rogers@;bismarcktribune.com. The deadline for nominations is Dec. 12.

On Jan. 1, the Tribune will announce the winners, along with an account of that person's or groups' good works.
