The "Little Old Lady from Pasadena" isn't likely to be in attendance, but there should be some "Fun, Fun, Fun" at Mandan's Buggies-n-Blues event - this weekend's top Best Bet.

The annual classic car event is hosted by the Bismarck-Mandan Musicians Association and local area car clubs. R&B and rock music will be heard in Dykshoorn Park, where more than 500 classic cars and other events and displays will be located.

There are no entrance or admission fees, but there will be food vendors and a beer garden. For more information and a schedule, go to www.buggies-n-blues.org.

Another Best Bet - one for kids who love carnival rides - is the Missouri River Festival through Sunday on the Bismarck Civic Center grounds. The festival is sponsored by Civic Arena Promotions Inc., a local non-profit organization raising money to support events held at the Bismarck Civic Center and Belle Mehus City Auditorium. For more information, go to www.bismarckciviccenter.com.

Got a soft spot in your heart for animals? Then you might want to attend the Central Dakota Humane Society rummage sale extravaganza from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Groomingdales, 2104 37th St., Mandan.

On Saturday, if you are in the neighborhood, you might want to attend the 38th Annual German/English Musikfest, 1:30 p.m. MDT (fleischkeuchla meal at 5 p.m.) at Beulah Middle School, 1700 Central Ave. N., Beulah. The event will include singing groups, a memorial service and skits.

Finally, while it isn't a weekend activity, Charles Bowden, who wrote "The Emptied Prairie" essay that appeared in the January 2008 National Geographic magazine, will speak at 10 a.m. Monday in the Sidney J. Lee Auditorium on the Bismarck State College campus.
