A Bismarck man has been charged with two felonies in connection with a vehicle that was allegedly stolen and thenlater found destroyed by fire in Bismarck on Sunday.
Adam Patterson, 24, was charged Monday with theft of a motor vehicle, a class C felony, and burglary, a class B felony.
According to Lt. Dan Donlin, of the Bismarck Police Department, the burglary charge was made because Patterson allegedly stole the keys to a Chevrolet Lumina from a residence in south Bismarck.
A woman, who was borrowing the vehicle from her mother, reported the car stolen at about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday and told police Patterson may have taken the vehicle, Donlin said.
Donlin said the woman told police that the car keys allegedly were taken from a residence in the 700 block of North Ninth Street.
Before the vehicle was found destroyed by fire north of Fraine Barracks at 4 a.m. Sunday, a gas station employee reported that someone driving the car took $15 worth of gas without paying for it.
The car was discovered after a railroad employee called police and reported that it was on fire.
The vehicle's estimated value is $1,250.
Patterson made his initial court appearance on Monday when bond was set at $10,000 cash, according to Tyrone Turner, an assistant state's attorney for Burleigh County.
