Mandan police have arrested a man suspected of burglarizing five businesses and attempting to burglarize two others.
Sgt. Jay Gruebele said the 42-year-old Minot man who had been staying at a Bismarck hotel has been arrested but not yet charged.
The burglaries are still under investigation, he said.
Gruebele said Mandan Supply, 1121 E. Main St., Jake's Auto Glass, 3202 Memorial Highway, Trucks Trailers & More, 3015 Memorial Highway, United Building Center, 1513 39th Ave S.E., and Advance America Cash Advance, 517 E. Main St. were broken into late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.
Property taken from the businesses includes $500 in cash, two laptops, a digital camera and numerous hand tools.
Someone attempted to break into S & S Transmission, 1700 Memorial Highway, and American Welding Supply, 2230 Memorial Highway, Gruebele said.
A Morton County deputy assisting Mandan police on one of the burglary calls spotted the 42-year-old man sitting in his car, Gruebele said. He said the deputy also noticed a screen had been taken off a window at the building.
A pry bar and the two stolen laptops were found in the man's car, Gruebele said. He said other property missing from the businesses was found when Bismarck police executed a search warrant at the man's Bismarck hotel room.
All of the property has been recovered, he said.
