People say interesting things all the time, and sometimes you have a notebook with to record comments like:

"Cody likes to eat soap and blow bubbles with his mouth."

It's true. Cody really likes to eat soap. He's a good bubble-blower too, and not just for a 7-year-old. He launched some floating masterpieces Saturday afternoon that were better than most adults could muster.

Saturday was Bubble Day in Bismarck, at the Gateway to Science center. More than 100 people - kids and adults, scientifically inclined and otherwise - showed up to check out some of the mysteries behind a pretty simple creation.

Cody Anderson, 7, and his 4-year-old sister, Cassandra, were elbow-deep in a bucket of suds when their mother made the above comment.

"This brings back a lot of memories," Sheri Anderson said. "Ithink it helps with their creativity. They're learning while having fun with some simple things."

The science center, located in the High Prairie Arts &Science Complex, has large groups of students pass through its halls during the school year. But to keep the summers busy and fun, too, the folks behind the scenes came up with some special activities. There was Family Rocket Day in July, and then Bubble Bliss on Saturday.

Outside the center, volunteer Erik Sjursen helped kids make giant bubbles. Inside, several other volunteers ran booths where kids could freeze bubbles, turn them colors and get put inside a big bubble.

"This is beautiful," volunteer Mike Blasco said. "What's best is when you see the fun the kids have. They're actually discovering things they can do with something as simple as water, and I think it opens a door for them."
