You can choose the roar of engines or the sound of music this weekend. Or both, if you want.

At 6 p.m. Saturday the World of Outlaws Spring Car Series comes to Dacotah Speedway in Mandan.

Hot laps start at 6 p.m., qualifying at 6:30 and racing at 7:30. Up to 40 top-notch sprint car drivers are expected to compete Saturday, making it one of the weekend's best bets.

Music dominates the weekend's other best bets.

The Bismarck Bluegrass Festival runs from 6 to 11 p.m. today and noon to 11 p.m. Saturday at Sleepy Hollow, 26th Street and Divide Avenue.

There will be 10 bands including local favorites Art Stevenson and the High 48s.

Also Saturday, Chuck Suchy brings his family and other entertainment to the Bohemian Hall, eight miles south of Mandan on Highway 6.

Chuck Suchy will perform with his wife, Linda, son, Ben and daughter, Andra. His daughter's trio, The Dollies, also will perform.

This year there also will be a small art and craft fair along with a multimedia presentation of "Along the Heart River" by filmmaker Bruce Wendt of Judson. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

The Shade Tree Players also are providing music this weekend. They will perform "School House Rocks, Live!" at 7 p.m. today, 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the High Prairie Arts and Science Complex, 1810 Schafer St.

For those looking for a place to eat there's Breakfast at the Zoo at 8 a.m. Saturday. The Dakota Zoo puts on the meal.

And Buckstop Junction on East Main Avenue puts on its annual corn feed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. There will be food and entertainment.

On the church front, the Operation Share rummage sale runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Evangel Temple, 3225 N. 14th St.

The items at this "sale" are free, an effort to provide items for those in need.

At 10 a.m. Sunday The Gathering will be held at Sleepy Hollow Park. Seven churches will worship together, have a meal and provide inflatable games and other activities.
